Our Work

Cheryl Heggie School of Dance has worked closely with many types of businesses and organisations.  From local school galas and charity events to film makers and weddings we can bring a host of experience to any event.  With a flexible approach, we can provide workshops, talks, performances and storytelling.  We are always excited to work with new projects.

Strictly Inverness

Working closely with the Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre, the dance school provides bespoke choreographed performances each year for the fundraising event 'Strictly Inverness'.

Dancing on the stage at the prestigious Eden Court Theatre, we have created and performed Highland Dance choreography for the 'Elevate’ and ‘Big Dance Show’ productions.  The events celebrate various dance styles in the Highlands and Islands.  Watch the latest performance here.

We work in partnership with many tour operators, travel agents, hotels and guides to bring a traditional display of Highland Dance to entertain visitors.  A visit to Scotland is not complete without watching the precision of a dancers footwork over the Sword.  Performers meet guests, teach steps and chat about the history of our traditional art form.

The Bachelorette

This project involved an exhibit of traditional dancing for the US series 'The Bachelorette'.  With a Highland Games theme, we provided a display in front of the formidable Castle of Leys.

Greek Travel Show

When the Greek Travel Show 'Globe Trotters' came to Inverness, we introduced contestants to a traditional highland games.  We taught contestants to Highland Dance and gave a brief history lesson on our famous Highland Games.  We worked in partnership with pipers and heavy weights to produce a fun afternoon.  Watch the episode here

The Newyorker

Working with the renowned photographer, Robbie Lawrence, dancers were interviewed and filmed at class and out on location for "The Newyorker" documentary.

Achnagairn Castle

We have enjoyed collaborating with this unique Scottish Castle over the years. It's always a pleasure to perform inside the magical ballroom to a large group of guests or entertain a smaller group in the Table Manors Restaurant. Dancers were delighted to take part in a fun mini Highland Games on the green.

The dance school produced a short film for entry into the Gaelic film competition called FILM G.    The film was a great success and won 2 awards - 'BEST SCRIPT' and 'PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD'. View the video here.

Loch Ness Knit Fest

We work closely with the Loch Ness Knit Fest providing bespoke performances, traditional dances and story telling about our history and heritage.

Visit Inverness Loch Ness Video

The dance school was invited to represent highland dance in a promotional video for Inverness City.  We met many different people, groups and businesses who contribute to the culture of our city.  View it here.

A fun request from the Father of the Bride.  We were to choreograph and perform a bespoke (and secret) performance including a guest appearance from the brides father!  The dance was well received by all and more importantly the bride and groom who were as surprised and delighted as the wedding guests!

Beating Retreat

Dance pupils performed in a mini Tattoo with music students from Highlife Highland music tuition programme.  Dancers performed to a live pipe band and audience at Inverness Leisure.
